The process of generating a test case in TURBOcfd consists of 5 main steps:
1. Input the Blade geometry
The pre-processor has been designed to import geometry from TURBOdesign-1 automatically. Other CAD file formats will be implemented in the code shortly.
2. Grid Generation
The pre-processor allows for almost automatic mesh generation. However, the user also has flexibility to control the extend of stationary regions outside blade rows, tip clearance amount as well as detailed control of the grid clustering if required.
3. Specification
The specification window allows the user to specify the main flow parameters such as viscosity and density and in the case of pumps vapour pressure.
4. Boundary Conditions
This window allows the user to specify the inlet and exit boundary conditions either in terms of uniform quantities or in terms of profile boundaries that are read from a file.
5. Convergence Window
This window sets the convergence parameters. In 90% of cases the default setting provides convergence.
Convergence Monitor
The convergence window allows for the monitoring of usual RMS and maximum residual parameters as well as inlet velocity and exit velocity and flow angles.
